I was surprised to find the F-35's nose dipping gradually toward the ground when I released the yoke, even with afterburners lit and with simulator settings enabled that make other fighters fly closer to straight and level.
LIST OF FSX MISSIONS MOD
Audio is an important part of the experience, particularly engine audio, and the initial version of this mod misses the mark set by its peers in that department.Īlso, the fight model is good, but not great. These might seem like nit-picks, but at present, the current issues with the engines simply don't create that feeling of a truly roaring jet engine that we crave when we spend $30 on a simulated plane. I had hoped to see the new dynamic sonic boom effect introduced by the Asobo F-18 to be present here not only is the sonic boom completely missing - either as a stock sound when passing Mach 1, or as a dynamic, camera-pan-driv-Įn boom as on the F-18 - but the engine sounds themselves are in need of some additional balancing / mixing work. The plane's engine glow is flat and overly yellow, not quite managing to achieve the appearance of controlled combustion spitting out the back of a powerful jet engine. The plane's engine effects (both graphical and audio) are of surprisingly poor quality relative to the Asobo F-18 Hornet and to other 3rd party fighters that have been available for months.
LIST OF FSX MISSIONS MODS
What disappoints me are the basic details that are missing from the launch version's visual / audio experience when compared to other mods in this price bracket. The team clearly knew there were unique elements of these craft that they'd have to *nail*, and you know what? They nailed those elements. In all, this sort of novelty tends to be where the release version of the F-35 excels: In its detailed attention to components that set the aircraft apart from its contemporaries, both in the simulator and IRL. Vertical take-off and landing is an absolute joy, and is an entirely new way to experience MSFS. The VTOL systems and carrier launch feature in the B-model and C-model, respectively, are some of the package's strongest components. The wing vapor effects are particularly well done, considering this is not a standardized, first-party effect. Let's start with the good: The plane (mostly) looks fantastic, and the detail of the cockpit and PCD (Panoramic Cockpit Display) makes this one of the most unique experiences in early 2022 for MSFS enthusiasts. I have looked forward to this release for months, I deeply respect and admire the team's efforts, and it gives me no pleasure to give it anything less than five stars. The passion they clearly poured into not only the design of this aircraft, but also the communication of its release scheduling (as it coincided with SU7 woes), is second to none. This is a strong release version for the long-awaited F-35 from the team at IndiaFoxtEcho.
LIST OF FSX MISSIONS UPDATE
Will elaborate below, and update score as updates address some of the flaws. This three star rating is the result of combined high and low marks across the entire package as sold at initial release. They also include more scenery and some animation to make the experience more real. But they are fun and not impossible to complete like other missions.
